LANEY COLLEGE ECO ART MATTERS CLASS Bi-Annual EXHIBITION

Once again, the Laney College Eco Art students are presenting artworks, installations and videos about important issues that affect the planet and all endangered species, including two-legged homosapiens!

This year's show, GLOBAL WARNINGS presents imaginative pieces including a sculpture and poem by two pediatricians, Ximena Borquez and Richard Boise, about teen pregnancy and global population; a lively video of activist artists Alida Line and Kristina Yates interviewing the public about the use of unhealthy skin and cleaning products; photographs and artworks about Nature Deficit Disorder by children working with artist/teacher Kiki Rostad; and a provocative artful installation by visiting Iranian guest artist, Raheleh Zomorrodinia about clearcutting the rainforests, among others.

Patricia Watts, noted eco art educator, curator and author, was the guest Curator.

Since 2005, this unique class has presented provocative, informative and highly creative works about environmental and social justice issues, combining scientific research with creative thinking and skills to help develop positive solutions and hope for a healthy survival.
